Daily Routine

Rockets is open during school term times 8.45am-3.15pm with the following choice of sessions available:

            11.45-12.15 (lunchtime)

Children are welcome to stay in Rockets for the whole day or a half day  - 8.45 - 11.45 or 11.45 - 3.15 (the afternoon session is with lunch).

The Session

We organise the session to follow the guidelines of the EYFS so that children can choose from a wide range of activities suitable for their age and ability, and in doing so, building up their ability to select and work through a task to its completion.

The children are also helped and encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities which introduce them to new experiences and help them gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others.

Outdoor activities contribute to children's health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around them.  The children have the opportunity and are encouraged to take part in outdoor child-chosen and adult-led activities, as well as those provided in the indoor space.

An average day at Rockets - times are approximate.

8.45 – Bell goes to signal start of the school day. Children play for a short time whilst everyone arrives.

9.15 – 10.10 Large group time, child initiated play, and time for small group activities with their key person.

10.15 - Snack time

10.30 – 11.45 - Child Initiated Play

11.45 – Some children go home and others come in.

12.00 -  Register

12.15 – Lunchtime

12.45 – 2.30 Child Initiated play

2.30 – 3.00 Tidy up time and snack time

3.15 – Home time for all children

During child initiated play, children may be encouraged to participate in some planned activities with their keyperson. We also do a large group activity with all the children (split into 2 groups of school starters and non-school starters) once per day.

We have a free flow setting where the doors are nearly always open for the children to play either inside or outside. We try to be outside whatever the weather (unless the weather makes it unsafe to be out).
