Recently a terrible storm has hit all along the coast of Cornwall. Many fishing boats have been sunk by the horrifying storm. In one little village, Mousehole, the sailing boats weren’t sunk because of the high harbour walls.

One local fisherman named Tom decided to go out fishing to save his village from starvation. He set out early in the morning and slowly battled his way out of the harbour. Tom said “I have never been so scared, it was the worst storm I’ve ever been in.” Tom battled his way to the fishing grounds then he shot the nets. Tom had his cat Mowzer with him so I asked, why did you take your cat with you, he replied “I took my cat because she is my best friend and she will always be by my side.” Tom hauled in the nets in and the boat was loaded with fish. Tom and Mowzer got back safely.

The people of Mousehole had hung up lanterns for them to light their way home. When Tom returned the village they thanked Tom and they had giant, jolly party. They cooked loads of fish recipes and partied all night. The village was saved! I asked Tom why he went out and he replied “I didn’t care about pride I wanted to help my friends.” The village partied all night congratulating Tom on his heroic act. I asked Tom was he happy when he hauled the nets in he replied “When I pulled the nets in, I knew if I got home to harbour everyone could eat. I felt happy that I could help my friends.” Tom said to me “All I wanted to do was help my friends because they are close to me.” The village was very close to dying from starvation but Tom saved the day!
